CENTRAL LAKE offers the very best. You can see Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo, Menaggio, Isola Comacina and all their iconic villas and grand hotels: Villa Monastero, Villa Serbelloni, Villa Melzi, Villa Gaeta, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, Villa La Cassinella and many other suggestive places. Central lake is a must-do when you’re on Lake Como for a quick getaway.
WESTERN SIDE is also very distinctive. From Como to Bellagio you’ll experience La Dolce Vita and your eyes will be amazed by how many luxury villas and hotels are lying on those wild shores: Villa Flori, Villa d’Este, Grand Hotel Passalacqua, Villa Pliniana, Villa Lario, Villa Oleandra, the cute Villa La Ruga and so on…
And what about landscapes! Nature is stunning and all the little towns lying by the lake or in the mountains are simply romantic: Nesso and its waterfall, Brienno and its medieval city center, the colorful Argegno, just to name a few.
EASTERN SIDE and northern side are not as popular as the western Como side, but they do have their icons too and they deserve a visit if you’re staying on Lake Como for longer than a couple of days.
The bay among Malgrate, Lecco and Valmadrera is such a beautiful surprise to whoever wants to discover more about Lake Como: the bell tower in Lecco, Resegone mountain just behind it, the lakeside promenade along the bay, the picturesque view over Malgrate and Baia di Parè, S. Martino mountain that looks like a guardian over the bay.
The clear blue water at Moregallo, Mandello del Lario, Villa Lario, Misses Grignetta, Rivabianca bay in Lierna…. Eastern side is more about nature, outdoor activities and little towns.
NORTHERN SIDE might be too far away for the classic Lake Como tourist who only wants to enjoy the most popular attractions. But everyone should visit the northern side too, ‘cause Lake Como is not only luxury and Grand Hotels. A full-day boat tour, for example, can show you a little bit of the northern side too: Bellano and its canyon, Dervio and its sunny long beaches, the medieval signs of Rezzonico and Corenno Plinio, Piona Bay and is Abbey, Gravedona city center, the boat clubs in Colico and Gera Lario… and again, stunning mountains overlooking the lake. And no worries, you’ll still admire small villas here and there up north too
